Cartridge World announces four million cartridges recycled annually

Nov 2, 2012

Aftermarket supplies retailer urges environmental approach.

William Swanson, CEO, Cartridge World North America, has celebrated the franchise’s achievement of recycling four million cartridges annually, but urges others to take up an environmental approach as the number of printer cartridges going to landfill remains high.

“With 350 million printer cartridges discarded in landfills annually, the environment is taking a beating. Our company recycles millions of printer cartridges every year. But that’s just a small part of the solution.”

Noting that while the amount of printers sold in 2012 is capable of using 80 million cartridges within a year, the US Environmental Protection Agency estimates only 25 percent of consumer electronics are recycled annually.

Swanson continued: “The challenge is to think about recycling all year long. Cartridge World stores recycle more than 4.5 million printer cartridges annually. Plus, our store owners are very involved in the recycling community and can provide local resource information.”

Cartridge World urges consumers and businesses to use America Recycles Day, 15 November, as a launch party for environmental initiatives.
