Warning: The following contains spoilers for new film Skyfall.
Car and good taste aficionados will be grateful to discover that the iconic 1960s Aston Martin DB5 that meets its untimely end in the latest James Bond film Skyfall was in fact a stunt double replicated via 3D printing, reports Engadget.
Augsberg-based Voxeljet produced three 1:3 scale models of the car using a VX4000 3D printer. Each was comprised of 18 pieces and were subsequently shipped to Propshop Modelmakers for the appropriate assembly, painting and outfitting.
The Recycler is pleased to report that no real Aston Martins were harmed during the making of the film.
