Brother Canada launches new inkjet AIOs

Nov 29, 2012

The OEM’s Canadian subsidiary has released its Business Smart series of colour inkjet devices.

Brother Canada claims that the release will “change the printing landscape” and that the devices are “game-changer[s]” due to the new technology, fast print speeds and low costs of the printers in the Business Smart range.

The technology featured in the machines that Brother states sets them apart is the Landscape Printing Technology, which it notes “reoriented the way colour inkjet printing is achieved” by eliminating “tradeoffs” in choosing inkjet printers based on speed, size, productivity and cost.

The technology changes how a page is stored and printed from portrait to landscape, “thereby reducing the machine footprint” according to Brother. A new engine, bigger printhead, redesigned inkjet cartridges with higher yields and other functions are also integral to the devices.

The range reportedly has the fastest in class speeds of 35ppm (black) and 27ppm (colour), the smallest in class footprint and low cost printing, and features a touchscreen display for ease of use. Brother added that automatic duplex printing, wireless connectivity and the ability to print 11” by 17” documents are also features that the Business Smart printers have to “represent a breakthrough” in inkjet printing.

Dwayne Filipchuk, Director of Product Planning at Brother Canada, stated: “This new inkjet series is a game-changer for the printing industry because it delivers the ultimate combination of form and function.

“In today’s small to medium business environments, entrepreneurs need technologies they can rely on, coupled with a range of features that fit their limited workspaces and budgets. The Business Smart series offers a striking design and most models also include intuitive swipe TouchScreen display controls to complement their other technologies such as laptops, tablets and smartphones.”

The most prominent machine in the range is the MFC-J4510DW, which also features mobile printing capabilities, and is available now for CAN$199 ($200/€154).
