Germany-based company will celebrate its tenth year as a remanufacturer of ink and toner cartridges.
Lico-Tec GmbH will be celebrating its tenth year in the industry in 2013, with Managing Director and founder Markus Lehner detailing how the company has evolved over the years.
Specialising in the remanufacturing of ink and toner cartridges, the Bavaria-based company was established in 2003 after Lehner had spent five years working in the inkjet development department at KMP. With “a lot of ambition” and specialist knowledge gained from his previous work, Lehner started his own company and began to see success from the beginning. “After forming a partnership with Bowajet, we were able to gain new contacts, and Lico-Tec changed from a garage company to a well-structured organisation” Lehner recounted.
After finding some difficulty in seeing high numbers of common cartridges “because of the price battle in the market”, Lehner says that the company has increasingly focused on finding solutions for “difficult cartridges” and resolving technical challenges, and that in the future it plans to continue to develop and manufacture “special products” and seek niche cartridges. “Another opportunity is to use the know-how about cleaning processes for other industries”, added Lehner.
Offering tips for anyone considering going into remanufacturing, Lehner said: “In my opinion, the most important things about starting a company are knowing the business, spending enough time to work out a thoughtful and realistic plan and finally to always try to be the best at what you are doing!”
