Office Depot has announced that it has been ranked fifth in DiversityBusiness.com’s annual list, which recognises businesses for the volume, consistency and quality of business opportunities for women and minority-owned companies, with the company reaching its 13th consecutive year of being featured in the list.

The list, put together by one of the US’ leading multicultural business-to-business websites, acts as a guide for women and minority consumers to enable them to identify the most diverse companies.

Among Office Depot’s efforts towards being a diverse and multicultural organisation is its Supply Chain Diversity program, which it says gives Historically Underutilised Businesses (HUBs) ample opportunities to grow and prosper by seeking out promising HUBs that are certified minority-, women-, disabled-, or veteran-owned to ensure equal opportunity in the supplier selection process. The company also has affiliations with national organisations such as the national Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and the Small Business Administration (SBA) that share Office Depot’s goal of making a positive impact on economic development through supplier diversity.

Commenting on the company’s achievement, Steve Calkins, Senior Vice President of Business Solutions Division for Office Depot, said: “We are proud to be named one of the top organizations for multicultural business opportunities for the 13th consecutive year. Office Depot is committed to supporting women and minorities, and our ranking on the BusinessDiversity.com Div50 list further exemplifies this.”
