Sales of wireless all-in-one (AIO) inkjet printers increase year-on-year in 2012, but overall all-in-one inkjet printers segment declines.
Research by IT research company CONTEXT indicates that there was a nine percent increase in sales of wireless AIO inkjet printers in Western Europe last year, with the UK, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and France all seeing an increase in sales of the devices, despite the overall AIO inkjet printers segment declining by 14 percent over the same period.
Despite HP’s market share of wireless AIO inkjet printers falling by 10 percentage points and falling below the 50 percent mark, the OEM remained the market leader in the segment, followed by Epson with a 25 percent share of the market and Canon with a 10 percent share of the market, both of which saw market growth during 2012.
The Netherlands saw the biggest year-on-year growth of wireless AIO inkjet printers, with an increase in sales of 36.8 percent, followed by Italy with an increase of 19.2 percent, France with 11.1 percent, Germany with 9.2 percent, Spain with 2.1 percent and the UK with -1.6 percent.
Commenting on the results of CONTEXT’s research, Matthew Fuller, Senior Research Analyst at the company, said: “The report highlights demand of wireless AIOs across homes and small offices due to the flexibility of where printers can be placed while also allowing multiple devices to connect without the need for unruly cables.”
