The range of new MFPs are optimised for and aimed at the US healthcare system.
The MFPs have been “engineered specifically” to aid healthcare organisations in the USA “improve outcomes in the face of rising costs, new legislation, security risks and provider consolidation”, with the machines unveiled at the HIMSS 2013 annual conference and exhibition.
The products include the SP 5210DNHW and DNHT, the SPC431DNHW and DNHT, the SP5200SHW and SHT, and the SP 5210SFHW and SFHT. The machines “offer a range of features to streamline the input, processing and output of healthcare information” according to the OEM, which added that printing patient wristbands is one particular task that the printers are capable of achieving.
The machines in turn “further reduce cost of wristband production” by handling media at a width of as small as 3.25 inches, “reducing consumption of expensive wristband stock”. The machines also contain lockable trays, SD card slots as portable printing modules, Teflon-coated paper trays, and a host of security features to comply with privacy requirements, and can print from 32 to 52ppm at a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi.
Michael Campana, Senior Manager of Healthcare Marketing for Ricoh Americas, stated: “This new line of Ricoh devices exemplifies the printer/MFP’s growing service role across the entire continuum of care.
“It satisfies the broad-based need for new, innovative business information solutions that directly address the unique challenges of healthcare information systems’ output in the most cost-effective manner.”
