Franking machine cartridge manufacturer nurtures future talent through Young Enterprise involvement.

David Hymers, Managing Director of UK-based Totalpost, has offered his expertise to young entrepreneurs interested in business by participating in mentoring programmes run by Young Enterprise, a UK enterprise education charity which helps 225,000 young people per year to learn about business and the workplace.

Noting that “too often there are negative stories in the press about young people”, Hymers took time out of his schedule to help with the mentoring of young entrepreneurs taking part in the programme, as well as judging for the Warrington area finals. The company has also put forward funding for the next intake of Young Enterprise students to continue its support for the charity and future talent.

“Young Enterprise (now celebrating their 50th year) is an excellent example of some of the drive and enthusiasm for work, business and entrepreneurship that is present in young adults across the UK,” Hymers said. “At Totalpost we are passionate about providing opportunity and run our own successful apprenticeship programme.

“Having being involved with Young Enterprise over the last six months I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of innovation and entrepreneurship that is present on our doorstep. At the recent judging event I was so impressed with some of the people in the competition that I’d be happy to employ them immediately after they finish their education.

“I broke into the business world myself at a young age, gradually working my way up based largely on raw enthusiasm for creating a successful business. I am keen to provide youngsters with opportunity and to pass on some of my knowledge acquired over 40 plus years of being in business.”
