May 2, 2013

Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9280 PROTwo series of MFPs launched for light production and high-volume offices.

Industry Analysts reports on the release of Canon’s new imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9200 PRO series of MFPs, designed for light production and central reprographics departments (CRD); and the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7200 MFP series for use in high-volume offices.

Both sets of devices are said to offer faster print speeds in black and white, as well as shorter warm-up times, better energy efficiency and improved finishers than their predecessors.

Up to 80 pages per minute can be printed on the C9280 PRO in black and white and up to 70 colour pages per minute, while the C9270 PRO is able to print at speeds of up to 70 pages per minute in black and white and 65 pages per minute in colour. High image quality and advanced finishing and media support means that the printers are designed to meet the needs of CRD environments, short-run print-for-pay businesses and high volume offices working in-house.

Meanwhile, the C7270 and C7260 are capable of printing up to 70 and 60 pages per minute in black and white and up to 60 and 55 pages per minute in colour, with the devices being designed specifically to meet the needs of high-volume colour office environments. Canon claims that the devices feature more robust paper handling and finishing as well as more flexible media support, making them ideal for replacing mid-volume MFPs.

All of the new printers are built on Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform, “designed to be the core of business communications where imaging technology, cloud connectivity, and mobile solutions converge”; with the addition of new capabilities to enhance user experience, streamline document workflows and merge technologies to optimise business process.

Examples of these features include enhanced security with a hard disk drive erase function coming as standard as well as a HDD Lock function; improved image quality using Canon’s ZIMA chip and Dot-Screen technology; and flexible in-line finishing options such as a staple finisher, booklet finisher, hole punch and insertion/folding options.

Sam Yoshida, Vice President and General Manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group at Canon USA, said: “Work environments in many industries have changed tremendously in recent years, with disruptive technologies changing the way we work in a fundamental way. Canon is addressing the need for streamlined workflows and optimized business processes with state-of-the-art devices that provide powerful performance and productivity.”

All of the new devices are available now, at prices ranging from $29,400 (€22,400) for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7260 to $52,500 (€40,000) for the C9280 PRO.
