Weekend-long offer on Ebuyer allowed customers to buy Dell laser printers free of charge under certain conditions as OEM enters contract with Department of Defence.
IT ProPortal reports that the offer on Ebuyer, which is no longer available, included the business-ready Dell 3330DN laser printer being sold at a discounted price of just under £200 ($303/€235) compared to its usual price of £602.40 ($913/€709).
However, the offer also incorporated a free Ricoh Aficio SP100SU multifunction laser printer worth £59.99 ($91/€70.68), a £75 ($114/€88) cashback via Dellguarantees.com as well as a further £100 ($152/€118) if an equivalent laser printer was traded in, meaning that the Dell 3330DN “was essentially free”.
In addition, customers were offered an extended three-year next business day warranty usually worth £120 ($182/€141).
Explaining the offer, Ebuyers said that both the cashbacks will be honoured by Dell, which the article states is “highly unusual”.
The Dell 3330DN printer supports Windows RT and Windows 8, can print at speeds of up to 38 pages per minute and at a print resolution of 1,200 x 1,200 dpi as well as offering duplex capabilities. Under the offer, the printer is also covered by a Dell money-back guarantee, with full refunds given should any genuine technical faults arise during the first 12 months of purchasing the product.
Further news regarding Dell has been reported by The Motley Fool, which announced that the OEM has been awarded a fixed-term contract with the US Department of Defense to supply the US army with up to 13,000 printers for a maximum total purchase cost of $12.5 million (€9.7 million). The Pentagon has handed out more than 20 new defence contracts this week overall totalling $717.7 million (€558 million).
