Epson to showcase new large format inkjets at FESPA

May 29, 2013

Epson SCF7000OEM will demonstrate eight SureColor inkjets together for the first time at FESPA exhibition in London.

PrintWeek reports that Epson will attend the event, which will take place between 25 and 29 June at the ExCel London Exhibition Centre, and showcase for the first time eight of its new large-format SureColor inkjet printers, including its two most recent devices – the SC-F6000 and SC-F7000 dye-sublimation printers.

The SC-F6000, priced at £4,795 ($7,248/€5,599) is able to produce prints up to 44 inches wide in size at speeds of 63 square metres an hour, while the SC-F7000 can print up to 64 inches wide in size at speeds of 57 square metres an hour, but is priced at a much higher £15,695 ($23,724/€18,325). Both printers use Epson UltraChrome DS ink, a specially developed aqueous ink which the company says “produces high-quality images with intense blacks, sharp contours and smooth gradations”.

A spokeswoman for Epson said: “The machines target the soft signage and sportswear market. These are the first dye-sublimation printers from Epson, and this is the first time every part of the printer has been manufactured by one company, from ink and printhead, to printer chassis […].

“Dye-sublimation is ideal for printing and transferring scratch-resistant, photographic quality images onto a wide range of substrates that are difficult to print on to directly such as aluminium, steel, plastics, MDF board and ceramic tiles.”

Additional products in the SureColor range include the 64-inch SC-S printers for POS, signs and wallpaper graphics; and the 44-inch SC-T7000 printer which uses UltraChrome XD ink and is suitable for use with CAD, GIS, custom banners and indoor signage. All of the new SureColor printers have been developed by Epson over the last 18 months.
