environmentUS remanufacturer announces it has been awarded R2:2008 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certification and a recertification of its ISO 14001:2004 at one of its facilities.

Turbon Group has announced that its York, Pennsylvania facility has been awarded the certifications for responsible recycling, occupational health and safety and environmental stewardship, claiming to be the only remanufacturer and collector of toner cartridges to hold all three of the certifications.

The R2 certification, also known as Responsible Recycling Certification, verifies Turbon’s “environmentally responsible, safe and transparent” management of toner cartridges and other consumer electronics; while the OHSAS 18001, or Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, aims to aid organisations in controlling occupational health and safety risks, and was developed in response to widespread demand for a recognised standard.

The ISO 14001, meanwhile, addresses various aspects of environmental management, providing practical tools for companies and organisations looking to identify and control their environmental impact and constantly improve their environmental performance.

Commenting on the achievement, Cassie Gruber, Director of Environmental Compliance at Turbon, said: “The implementation of R2 and OHSAS 18001 along with the recertification [of] our current ISO 14001 at our York, PA, facility shows the commitment by Turbon not only to the continual improvement of our environmental stewardship but also the importance of the health and safety of our employees. Turbon is committed to being an industry leader in all aspects of our business and the addition of R2 and OHSAS 18001 should serve as an example for our industry.”

Al DeLuca, CEO of Turbon, said: “Turbon’s commitment to our customers and potential customers is that we will handle all of the material that they send to us down to their final disposition and while doing so we will provide our employees with a safe working environment. Since joining Turbon in March, Cassie’s experience and expertise has been an invaluable asset and has provided our team with the leadership and knowledge to successfully execute on these initiatives.”
