European Toner and Inkjet Remanufacturers Association reports on this year’s event, which took place on 20 and 21 June in Vienna.
ETIRA has reported on last week’s Focus on Europe event, which saw the association undergo board member changes during its annual member meeting, with Régis Thébaud and Thorsten Lifka leaving the board and Pierre-Yves Léger of Armor and Flavio Monti of Pelikan being appointed as new board members.
The association added that Thébaud left his position as board member due to retirement and has been instrumental in the industry’s fight against clones, being a driver behind ETIRA’s Guide to Clones. Thorsten, meanwhile is described as having provided helpful input regarding OEM and other patents.
The members-only meeting also saw the adoption of ETIRA’s new Annual Report; and was followed by the main Focus on Europe conference attended by 115 delegates, which included “instructive” presentations on standardisation of imaging equipment; the new ISO 29142 standard for cartridge characterisation; and on the second day, a review of the DIN 33870 standards, a report on the market in China and the latest statistics on market intelligence. The issue of clones was addressed by Static Control’s Ken Lalley, while Integral’s Gunther Hagemann alerted attendees on the need to comply with REACH rules and The Recycler’s David Connett spoke on the true cost of the empty.
ETIRA concluded that the event was a “top opportunity for networking and learning”, and thanked The Recycler for organising it along with its sponsors – Armor, OCP, Delacamp, Static Control, Triton and MSE. You can read more about the event in the next issue of The Recycler, which will mail early next month.
