The current Chairman of the UK franchise will leave at the end of October in order to “secure his next leadership role” closer to his Surrey home.

Richardson, who joined as Chairman in May 2011, will leave the company on 31 October 2013, and will work with the Cartridge World board “during his transition to focus on EU development”, the company has stated.

Richardson is leaving the company in order to “secure his next leadership role closer to his Surrey home”, having joined Cartridge World UK with the objective of “rebuild[ing] Cartridge World in the EMEA region and to prepare for a potential future sale”. Richardson notified the board of directors in early 2013 that his “continued commuting from Surrey to Harrogate” would not be “sustainable” for the company’s plans in the next few years.

The franchise added that during his tenure, “substantial progress has been made”, though due to the “difficult European and UK economy full delivery of the strategic plan will continue through to 2015”. Richardson will complete a number of key initiatives before he leaves, including the “proposed supply and distribution partnership with Badger Office Supplies”, which The Recycler reported earlier this year.

Richardson will work during the next few months alongside Allan Corder, who has been appointed by Cartridge World UK as CEO “to transition the management of the UK business”. Corder has “substantial experience” in the global printing industry, according to Cartridge World, and was the former CEO of Canon Australia and New Zealand, where he “built the business” into a $1 billion (€762.8 million) turnover “market leader”, as well as having “substantial experience in franchising networks”.
