The LC1240 cartridge replacement and adaptor is said by the company to be the only solution “that complies with the OEM’s four patents”.
The new cartridge from the company “respects” the published patents from Brother concerning the product, with Armor stating that it is “currently the only patent compliant product available in the market for this printer”. The company added that between 2005 and 2010 Brother filed four patents for the LC1220, LC1240 and LC1290 inkjet cartridges, with two parts of the patent “protect[ing] its printer cartridge functionality” by allowing recognition of the cartridge by the printer.
Armor noted in turn that the two parts (parts 75 and 76 on the documents) “trigger two electric switches inside the printer”, and “without them, the cartridge cannot function properly”. As a consequence, any single compatible inkjet that infringes these patents is “counterfeit”, and in response, Armor came up with a two-part solution that is “completely different from any other standard compatibles on the market”.
The solution comprises an adaptor, which the company notes is “simple to use” and features no external guide”, with “each part of the cartridge […] conditioned separately”. Armor added that it “designed and developed” the solution that combines “quality, performance and economy”, as well as allowing customers to “access all the relevant information” on the products through labelling and a set of instructional photos.
A video demonstration will also soon be available on the company’s website at www.armor-print.com.
