Franchisees from Herefordshire and Gloucester have shared their delight at being rewarded at the recent franchise conference.

The event took place in Harrogate in June, as The Recycler previously reported, and saw franchisees including Darren Turner get rewarded for their work as part of the UK Cartridge World franchise.

Hereford Times reported on franchisees Hugh and Alex Pattison-Appleton, who won the Franchisee of the Year award out of 170 franchises across the UK. The Pattison-Appletons run a number of Cartridge World stores ad partnership outlets in Herefordshire, including those in Hereford city, Leominster, Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye, Bromyard and Longtown, and recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Hereford city store.

In 2012 and 2013, the couple saw their business grow by 25 percent, allowing them to employ nine local staff, and Alex Pattison-Appleton remarked that “it’s great to have our efforts recognised in this way […] looking ahead, the conference set out the growth plans for Cartridge World over the next two years, and we have a continued expansion plan for our own Herefordshire branches and beyond”.

South West Business meanwhile shared the story of franchisee Terry Jeffery, who celebrated 10 years as a franchisee by receiving a Special Recognition Award for his contributions to the franchise in Gloucestershire. He also owns a store in Cheltenham city centre, having purchased the Gloucester franchise in 2003.

Over the past 10 years Jeffery has refilled and remanufactured an estimated 180,000 cartridges, saving around £2 million ($3.1 million/€2.3 million) for “local businesses and retail customers”, raising £25,000 ($38,841/€29,037) in turn for local charities through his ‘Recycle It’ scheme, and also aids other franchisees with technical guidance.

Jeffery said in response to his award: “It’s great to have my efforts recognised in this way. I really enjoy helping other franchisees with technical issues. Of course I couldn’t do any of this without the support of my team, so this award is partly for them as well.”

Outgoing Cartridge World Chairman John Richardson stated: “Terry is a perfect example of a great franchisee. He’s run a successful business for 10 years and is also one of our Technical Forum Gurus, helping other franchisees improve the quality of their work.”
