Second quarter sees shipments fall 14.6 percent year-on-year.
IDC reports that the large-format printer market in Western Europe suffered during 2Q13, with total shipments of large-format devices in the region falling to around 15,500 units.
The technical sector continued to be the largest market in Western Europe, with a market share of over 65 percent, although the market saw a year-on-year decline of 4.4 percent during the quarter; with the graphics segment also declining by around 30 percent year-on-year.
In terms of vendors, HP, Canon and Epson lead the market, accounting for 83.7 percent of total large-format printer shipments.
Julio Vial, Research Manager, Western European Quarterly Large-Format Printer Tracker at IDC, commented: “Shipments of UV inkjet printers are still increasing and IDC expects this trend to continue in Western Europe.”
In the first quarter of the year, IDC reported that the worldwide large-format printer market contracted 5.6 percent year-over-year with shipments reaching nearly 75,000 units, although regional and segment results were mixed.
