The organisation aims to provide a “unique” collection and recovery initiative.
Color Recovery, which refers to itself as a “new institute for research on toner powder and dedicated to carbon footprint reduction and [the] environment”, has announced a collection and recovery programme for collecting toner “that can be used worldwide”.
The institute states that after cooperating with “technical, safety and recovery experts”, it developed a green concept whereby toner powder is “recovered for energy purposes in a way that is safe and environmentally sound”. Color Recovery also added that it “globally certifies potential clients based on safety and environmental values”, and organises collection and handling “in-house”.
The institute’s Chairperson, Jaime Essed, stated: “We have been conducting on-going research during the last two years. Many different toners have been chemically analysed and tested for their explosive character. We have been able to create a toner powder mix that meets the safety and environmental needs of our recovery partners.”
Other aspects of the programme include certified partners “deal[ing] directly” with Color Recovery for pick-up of excess toner, with a certificate of recovery after collection and acceptance of the material. The certified partners can also carry Color Recovery’s logo “for marketing purposes”, so that they can show they “use the highest environmental standards for toner powder disposal”.
Color Recovery’s Richard Golsteijn, who took part in developing the certification, added: “Close cooperation with our clients is very important for safety and environmental reasons. We do a lot of testing on the toner powders that we pick up from our certified partners. We need to create a safe and stable product for our recovery partners and therefore we require effort from our partners.”
Potential clients are invited by the company to apply for an audit “to become a certified partner”, and Color Recovery is “currently closing” recovery partnerships with cement kilns and energy producers across the world. The company’s website can be found at www.colorrecovery.com.
