Three models unveiled at IFA trade show including two printers with built-in smartphone docks.
Samsung is planning to introduce three new modern printer concept designs at this year’s IFA trade show in Berlin, aimed at making mobile printing from Android devices easier, reports PC Mag.
The Samsung Wave printer features a “minimal, organic” design complete with a built-in smartphone dock for direct printing from the user’s Android-based smartphone; while the “Indie” printer concept offers a “mobile docking sound-system”, enabling users to play music as well as print using their smartphone. The dock also acts as a charger for the smartphone.
Meanwhile the “One & One” printer concept is a mono laser printer, but also allows the user to print in one other colour, choosing from cyan, magenta or yellow “to complement the standard black”.
Explaining the printer concepts in a blog post, Samsung stated that it had “foreseen the move towards mobile printing” after a recent announcement from IDC claimed that users of mobile devices print more than non-users and that “more than half of mobile device users will engage in mobile printing in offices by 2015”.
However, Samsung has not released any further details on the printer concepts, nor stated whether they will eventually become production models.
