Totalpost now shortlisted for manufacturing award

totalpostThe franking cartridge manufacturer has been chosen by The Manufacturer’s annual awards.

The company, which was recently shortlisted for four business awards, has been officially nominated by The Manufacturer for the “SME Manufacturer of the Year Award” for companies with under 125 employees.

The company started manufacturing its own franking cartridges in 2011, with a manufacturing team set up and an apprenticeship scheme begun, and the business has grown “rapidly” since, with exports making up 33 percent of the company’s turnover in 2011, and 44 percent in 2012, resulting in Totalpost winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, which it celebrated earlier this summer.

David Hymers, Managing Director at Totalpost, stated “This is the first time we have entered any kind of manufacturing awards so we are really pleased to have been recognised through being shortlisted. [Manufacturing the cartridges] came about because we saw a gap in the market to produce high quality compatible franking machine cartridges that were both high quality and cost effective.

“There were other compatible franking machine cartridges previously available which were manufactured outside of the UK but the majority were low quality and therefore unreliable. We researched and designed our own versions in order to overcome these manufacturing flaws.”

The company will attend the next stage of the awards process at a formal presentation in Birmingham in October, with the official awards ceremony taking place at a Gala Dinner in the city on 4 December.
