epsonprecisionThe PrecisionCore technology is “poised to transform the printing business”, according to the OEM.

Epson unveiled the new technology at the LabelExpo show in Brussels, Belgium earlier this week, with the printheads expected to “drive industrial and office inkjet printing innovation” and “build on Epson’s renowned quality”. Epson’s Global President Minoru Usui revealed the product launch at the show, adding that the technology will provide Epson with an “unparalleled level of manufacturing efficiency”.

The technology is a result of “recent breakthroughs” in piezo material and “high-precision” MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems) manufacturing, which have created a new print chip that in turn allows Epson to “deliver commercial-grade performance in a compact, modular form” as well as “scale the technology from single-pass industrial presses to workgroup and desktop printers”.

The technology extends the thin-film piezo (TFP) technology currently used in Epson’s wide-format devices into these two new market groups, and the OEM added that it is the “only volume-produced printing technology that spans such a wide range of inks and marking materials”. The integrated production of the printheads in turn is said to “provide a highly efficient manufacturing process to address a full range of digital printing opportunities with the scale, quality and cost effectiveness” made possible by the chips’ production.

Usui added: “PrecisionCore represents a leap forward in printing performance. We continue to deliver outstanding quality thanks to superior dot control, and have introduced an original new system to ensure reliability. At the same time, scalability allows us to fully leverage our historical strengths of ink flexibility and printhead durability.”
