Spicers and DCI announce cartridge agreement

5 StarAgreement will see stationery firm sell 5 Star remanufactured inkjet and toner cartridges produced by UK cartridge manufacturer.

OPI reported on the agreement between Spicers and DCI, which comes following the expiration of a similar 12-month agreement between Spicers and Chinese supplier Ninestar and will see DCI supplying Spicers with its 5 Star brand of remanufactured cartridges.

Alan Ball, CEO of Spicers, explained that the company’s contract with Ninestar was due for renewal and it had received “lots of interest” after “increased product volumes”. He reportedly added that Spicers remains “on good terms” with Ninestar and confirmed that it would still be the UK distributor for Ninestar-owned printer manufacturer Pantum.

“Selecting DCI is a major, positive move,” said Ball. “They are the ideal partners with UK production facilities that help to reduce our carbon footprint, provide greater flexibility and immediate access to stock.”

Spicers also stated that its new partnership with DCI would allow it to introduce a cartridge recycle scheme through Spicers’ Brilliant partners; a factor that Ball said played “a big part” in the company’s decision to select DCI as its new supplier.
