The UK franchise awarded an Aylesbury school as runner-up in a newsletter competition.
Cartridge World reported on Broughton Junior School’s naming as a national runner-up in its first annual School Newsletter of the Year Award, which invites schools and colleges to “share what makes their school newsletter so deserving”, with a panel of judges including journalist and blogger Natalie Trice making the final decisions.
The Aylesbury school’s Daniel Stockley, a student in year six at the school, received the award, with Cartridge World Aylesbury Franchise Owner Sarah Dyckhoff presenting him with the prize. The competition opened in September, with the Broughton Herald, the school’s newspaper, recognised due to its “unique style” and “professional reporting” from Stockley.
Dyckhoff stated: “The competition attracted a high calibre of entries from across the UK and judging was really tough, but the newsletter from Broughton Junior School really deserved recognition. I’m thrilled that the pupils have won this award and that I’m able to present it to them.”
Guy Willimont, a teacher at the school who helped pupils set up the Broughton Herald, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been named as a runner-up and I know this will give the pupils involved in the creation of the newsletter a real boost to have been recognised for all their efforts, dedication and hard work.”
Allan Corder, CEO of Cartridge World, also noted: “A huge congratulations to Broughton Junior School. This is our first year running the competition and we’ve been thrilled with the attention it has attracted from schools and pupils alike. The judging process was difficult as I can honestly say all the entries offered something unique and entertaining.”
