Techtree.com reported on the introduction of LG’s Pocket Photo 2.0 device, which provides wireless connectivity using both Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth, enabling users to print two by three inch photos directly from Android and iOS powered smartphones and tablets.
The device, which is four millimetres thinner than LG’s previous model and available in in pink, jewel white or lime yellow, is already available in China and will be released globally during 2014. Despite its smaller size, the printer is able to produce more prints per charge than the earlier model, with LG claiming that 30 photos can be printer on a single charge at a resolution of 313 dpi.
Users can send prints from their mobile devices to the printer by downloading and installing the free Pocket Photo editing app on their smartphone or tablet. The app also allows users to edit their photographs before printing without the use of a computer.
Ink cartridges, toner and ribbons are not required for the printer to work as the device uses ZINK technology.
