Apex launches replacement chips for HP cartridges

Jan 7, 2014

apexchipsThe chip manufacturer has produced replacement chips for HP’s DeskJet Ink Advantage printers.

The chips are designed for use in the OEM’s 3525, 4615, 4625, 5525 and 6525 printers, which the company notes HP has been developing since July 2012. The cartridges used in these printers, the 685, 655 and 670 models, feature upgraded chip technology, compared to the former 364 and 564 chips.

Apex noted that it “takes more time and resources in developing replacement chips” for the 685 series, but that it has “realised the significance of this technology” in terms of manufacturing replacements, adding that “it is highly possible that HP may make use of the 685 technology in its coming printers”.

The chips are ASIC-designed “stable” products that “display non-genuine HP information”, with regions covered including the Asia Pacific, Russia, Latin America and the EMEA. Chips are available for all four colour cartridges in these machines as well.
