The franchise, run by Darren Turner, launched the service in November 2013, and in the same month it expanded to businesses before piloting it in 10 additional stores in December 2013. The service operates by providing customers with a maintained inkjet MFP, with unlimited ink for a monthly payment, with savings said to be worth around £400 ($644/€476) to the “average home computer user”. Users can also, subject to store approval, use their own printer in the system as well.

The newest development is an associated service for the education sector in the east Lancashire region, with infant, primary and secondary schools able to take advantage. ‘Infinity or Education’ provides schools with a wireless inkjet MFP and unlimited ink from “as little as” £19.99 ($32.57/€24.09) a month, with the delivery service from Turner’s stores covering the whole region, including three stores in Rawtenstall, Accrington and Blackburn.

Turner stated: “I still believe that there is nothing else like this out in the UK marketplace today. Where else, as an infant, primary or high school, could you pay as little as £19.99 a month for a service, which provides you with a maintained wireless multifunction business-rated inkjet printer and lets the students print as often and as much as they like, without you worrying about the price of the ink cartridges.

“Another major advantage of the service is the fact that we also maintain the printer, which means, if it breaks, as long as it’s not through misuse, we will either fix or replace it at no extra charge. In the past, schools have found it difficult to access schemes like this, as they can only pay for services through being invoiced, not signing up to monthly subscriptions. This is where ‘Infinity for Education’ is different, as it operates through an annual or monthly invoice system, which works perfectly for the schools and the wider education sector.”
