UK staff to be made redundant before the end of the second quarter of 2014, finishing on 30 April.
PCR reported that according to Ian Tonks, National Officer for IT and communication for trade union Unite, HP will cut 782 jobs from its UK workforce before the end of 2Q14 as part of its global restructuring plans.
It has already been reported that over 7,000 jobs will be cut by the OEM across Europe before the end of the company’s financial year in October, which will include a total of 1,124 UK positions.
A leaked staff message reportedly stated that more than 300 of the jobs lost before the end of 2Q14 will come from the Infrastructure Technology Outsourcing (ITO) arm of the company, which focuses on enterprise; with Maurice Mattholie, Vice President of ITO services in the UK, reported to have stated that “it is expected that up to 329 position within the ITO UK and Ireland organisation will be impacted through workforce management during Q2 FY14 […] for a number of groups (job pools), where the required reduction cannot be achieved via EoW, a compulsory redundancy programme may be required”.
The Recycler also reported in January that around 30 HP jobs are under threat across Norwich and Cambridge; with the OEM planning to cut 27,000 jobs globally before the end of this year.
