The remanufacturer and supplier has seen its GP gear patent approved.
The GP gear was issued a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), with the patent number 8,628,269, and is for a gear to be used with OPC drums in various toner cartridges for a range of laser printers.
Green Project states that the “unique layout and features” of the gear include a design that “is not only different, but also takes into consideration the need for a high quality print that consumers expect”. Each gear contains special markings and is coloured green, making for “quick and easy identification” so as to avoid confusion.
The company added that the GP gear will be offered by Green Project in “most” of its monochrome and colour toner cartridges, and referred to its previous announcement of the technology as well as its utilisation of TruTag Technologies’ “covert authentication platform”.
The TruTag technology will “ensure that the gear is not copied and knocked off”, and Green Project notes that the security is “important in helping Green Project’s customers know that they are receiving the true GP gear”.
Joseph Wu, President of Green Project, commented: “We are very excited that not only has our gear been inspected by US Customs and Border Protection, [but] our gear is now accepted and patented by the USPTO office. Other companies may claim that they have a different gear, however our gear is a patented gear. It was important for us to not only be different, but to have it patented.”
