PagePro1580MF monochrome laser MFP released as OEM looks to “replicate its A3 leadership in the A4 space”.
CRN reported on Konica Minolta’s release of the new PagePro1580MF, which has a print speed of 20 ppm, a 16 MB memory and in-built colour scanner. As well as printing on A4, the device can also be used for letter, B5, A5, A6 and executive size printing; and is described as “compact” for integration into “a small office or home”.
The release comes as the company predicts a growth of between 30 and 35 percent over the next two to three years; and as it begins to target India’s A4 segment after “leadership” in the A3 space.
Tadahiko Sumitani, Managing Director at Konica Minolta Business Solutions India, commented at the launch: “We have witnessed revenue of Rs 228 crore ($37.6 million/€27.2 million) in the last fiscal and will close the current fiscal at more than Rs 300 crore ($49.5 million/€35.8 million). Moreover, we expect to grow by 30 to 35 percent to touch Rs 500 crore ($82.6 million/€59.8 million) within the next two to three years.”
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Malhotra, EGM, Sales at Konica Minolta Business Solutions India, commented on the OEM’s recent success in other segments: “In the current year (CY) 2013, the company has achieved market share of 27 percent in A3 colour printers, 17 percent in A3 monochrome printers and almost 50 percent in the production printers market. We wish to take the similar leadership in the A4 laser space as well.”
