Ink cartridges among collection of 36,000 counterfeit products seized from several locations in southern Riyadh.

Arab News reported on the seizure of 36,000 “adulterated products” by field inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce in Saudi Arabia; including ink cartridges, shampoo and beauty creams.

The products were taken from different locations including “old houses” in southern Riyadh, with workers at the locations found to have been storing and repacking counterfeit products and selling them on to other stores claiming that they were the original branded products.

The seized items were “confiscated and destroyed”, while those found to be in charge of the locations are being investigated further.

In another similar incident, field inspectors raided a two-floor house in Shimaisi District and two apartments in Malaz District where foreign workers were found to be “filling fake printer ink cartridges”; with over 12,000 counterfeit cartridges “carrying global brand names” seized from the locations.
