Bizhub Press C1060 and C1070 to “provide image quality assurance” to printers moving into digital production.
Pro Print reported on the release of Konica Minolta’s new series of digital colour printers into the Australian market, with the devices said to deliver “brochure quality” print with resolutions of 1200 x 1200 dpi, which the OEM asserts “is actually 3,600 dpi thanks to the 8-bit multi-gradation Sead IV processor” together with the new Simitri HD++ toner technology.
Both devices have a “vacuum feed option, a new image registration system, and a wider colour gamut”, with the C1060 printing at speeds of 61 ppm while the C1070 is able to reach speeds of 71 ppm. Both can print on paper sizes A5 to SRA3 on stocks from 62 to 300gsm.
David Procter, Production Printing General Manager at Konica Minolta, said: “There are compelling reasons for offset printers to look into digital printing, and particularly now with the image quality that the new C1060 and C1070 printers deliver, certainly for runs of less than 2000.
“For a low investment the new bizhub Press series will provide printers with the ability to produce high quality finished product that as far as the clients are concerned is no different to offset print.
“Commercial printers are concerned with colour management, and the new printers answer the questions they may have over digital. There is the new HD++ toner, an inline colour densitometer, and the printers will auto calibrate according to paper stock, and there is a choice of rips. This combined with the new image registration system and a robust paper handling ability with vacuum feed means that the C1060 and C1070 will perform as commercial printers require.”
The C1060 and C1070, which are purportedly priced lower than the OEM’s previous printers in the AUS$50,000 (US$47,000/€34,000) to AUS$120,000 (US$113,000/€81,000) range, will be joined by two new black and white printers due to be launched in June, along with the new C1100 and C1085 colour printers expected to be released in three or four months.
