The first release is two new machines, the SP C525DN and C252SF MFP, which are A4 colour laser printers “with low total cost of ownership” and features including wireless and mobile printing, as well as print speeds of up to 20ppm, automatic duplexing and 2400 x 600dpi resolution.

The devices are also capable of producing a first print in 14 seconds, with additional features including one-click operation, booklet printing, colour network scanning and colour faxing, with the aforementioned mobile printing capabilities accessed through Ricoh’s free Smart Print & Scan application.

Low total cost of ownership (TCO) meanwhile is made possible by the automatic duplexing alongside a toner-saving Economy Colour mode, which “extends the life of consumables”, and “longer-lasting” components have been manufactured by the OEM to extend printer lifecycles to 65,000 pages, “double that of other Ricoh devices at this level” according to the OEM.

Gerard de Pender, Senior Product Manager at Ricoh Europe, said of these machines: “As organisations seek to reduce the cost of printing, more and more are looking beyond a printer’s headline purchase price to its TCO For them, the Ricoh SP C252DN printer and SP C252SF MFP are the obvious choices for economical colour printing.

“Impressive energy efficiency and automatic double-sided printing deliver low running costs. Factor in a longer than normal lifespan and the TCO becomes even more appealing, especially for those who opt for the multi-functional SP C252SF.”

In addition, the OEM released the C250DN and C250SF MFP, which are designed for home and small businesses, and which include wireless and mobile printing, automatic duplexing, 2400 x 600dpi resolution prints and page speeds of 20ppm, with these machines said to be “affordable” and able to operate for “considerably less” than other machines.

Additional features include “more flexibility in device positioning” due to the smaller size of both printers, as well as a power-saving sleep mode and an Eco Colour mode.

De Pender added of these two devices: “These desktop A4 devices provide everything home workers and small businesses or workgroups could possibly want from a colour laser device, plus a few surprises not normally seen at this price level. We expect that the ability to print wirelessly from a tablet or smartphone will prove particularly popular.”
