OEM signs global service agreement with German automobile manufacturer to provide MPS to its operating bases worldwide.
Canon announced that the agreement will see it provide multifunction office systems and laser printers to global Volkswagen group offices and factories, as well as assorted solutions and services, over the next few years.
The OEM stated that it had been selected by Volkswagen due to its “advanced technological capabilities and highly reliable equipment […] as well as the new development of applications tailored to meet unique customer needs”. It added that its “proactive initiatives aimed at protecting the environment, including efforts to develop products that deliver high environmental performance” were also a contributing factor in its selection.
Andreas Wiedemann, Head of Printing Service Governance at Volkswagen AG, commented: “VW are very pleased to be working with Canon for the supply and management of our printing requirements across our sites globally.”
Canon said that in recent years it has become more important for suppliers to provide “unified services and information security that met international standards, along with centralised purchasing” when being selected to provide MPS. In addition, “social contribution factors and other corporate social responsibilities have also been attracting increased attention”.
It noted that in January this year it renamed its Global Account Management project set up in 2004 as the “Canon Global Services Division”, which it has “focused on enhancing” by launching a dedicated website accessible in 23 countries; with the website highlighting the benefits of Canon Global Services.
The OEM stated that “Canon will continue its efforts to provide customers with multifunction office systems and solutions tailored to meet the ever-evolving needs of the modern workplace”.
