CIOL reported on the release of the two A3 printer and copiers by Samsung, which have been “designed to deliver exceptional performance and efficient printing solutions” for SMBs in Asia and will be available from the second half of 2014.

Both series feature Samsung’s 1GHz Dual Core CPU, enabling documents to be processed “up to 1.5 times faster than conventional copiers”. The CLX-9301 colour series is able to print at speeds of between 20 and 30 ppm, while the SCX-8128 mono series is capable of printing between 23 and 28 ppm.

In terms of print quality, the OEM’s Rendering Engine for Clean Pages (ReCP) is said to “improve the overall print and copy quality and vibrancy of black and white printing”, with the devices printing at a resolution of 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. In addition, Samsung’s polymerised toner improves the print quality by printing “crisper lines and vivid colours”.

To cater for businesses, the devices can be used with Samsung’s Business Core Printing Solutions (BCPS), which enables “user authentication, usage monitoring, document processing and serverless pull printing” without requiring a separate server, thus saving money for SMBs with limited IT budgets. Furthermore, the devices support XOA (eXtensible Open Architecture), described as “an open platform” that “can run various solutions developed by global independent software vendors (ISVs)” as well as Samsung’s own in-house solutions. This enables SMBs to incorporate a wider range of solutions that can be customised “depending on the business need”.

Energy consumption of the devices is “low overall” due to their “innovative all-in-one board” that can deliver a “60 percent reduction in energy consumption”; while the polymerised toner has “smaller toner particles which require a lower fusing temperature”, therefore saving power and costs. The inclusion of the Easy-Eco Driver also lowers “toner and maintenance costs for SMBs by an average of 20 percent” and allows users to preview and make modifications to documents before printing.

The devices feature a redesigned user interface, enabling “simplified commands for ease of use”, with users able to “slide and tap” the seven-inch colour touchscreen panel in a similar way to a smartphone. Up to 40 shortcuts can be created by users to make accessing popular functions quicker, and a keyword search function has also been added “for better user experience”.

David SW Song, Senior Vice President of Strategy Marketing and Sales, Printing Solutions at Samsung Electronics, said: “Samsung’s copiers are an efficient solution for rapidly growing businesses in the Asia market. Our printing technology enhances productivity and efficiency to deliver a seamless business experience to our SMB customers.”
