The US-based remanufacturer has been R2 recycling certified.
The company, which also recycles and distributes cartridges, reported that it received the certification “in recognition of [its] strict adherence to tracking and accountability of cartridge returns throughout the entire chain of custody of their remanufacturing process”.
The certification was attained as a response to “dealer demand” and “growing concern over data security and responsible electronics recycling”, with the R2 certification able to be “leveraged by dealers” that are using LMI’s Zero Landfill Recycling services. Gaining the certification means that the company passed a “multi-day inspection” of its remanufacturing facility and process in Phoenix, Arizona, as well as being compliant with the standard’s requirements.
The standard, developed by the Environmental Protection Agency alongside “major manufacturers and recyclers”, is said by LMI to be the “most comprehensive global standard” for “responsible management for end-of-life electronic equipment”, with LMI now able to apply the standard to its remanufacturing and recycling processes, as well as its reclamation solution.
Kevin Willert, LMI Solutions’ Director of Sustainability, stated: “Our dealers are telling us that their customers’ purchasing decisions continue to place more emphasis on sustainability, and as such, our R2 certification gives LMI dealers an immediate competitive advantage.
“Now we can share this R2 certification with our dealers in combination with our Zero Landfill recycling services to provide end users an undisputed leadership position when it comes to sustainability.”
