Worcestershire Health and Care Trust’s procurement team cut costs on cartridges.NHS

Redditch Advertiser reported on the NHS (National Health Service) trust’s savings on “goods and services”, which totalled £250,000 ($421,917/€314,906), including saving over £93,000 ($156,953/€117,145) on buying printer cartridges for office use, as well as £46,000 ($77,632/€57,942) on other stationery.

The trust provides community and mental health services in the county of Worcestershire, and says that the cuts have been made “without affecting patients”, with the procurement team responsible only being founded last year. In addition, the team is now working on a “five-year strategy” that will look at “where further savings can be made”.

Jeremy Pewton, Head of Procurement for Worcestershire Health and Care Trust, stated: “The trust is really committed to saving money in a way which maintains quality of services, and we have worked really hard to identify where we could getter better value for money for the things we buy.

“We have done this by restricting what we can purchase to those items which have been identified as being of best value. It’s not about doing things on the cheap but about ensuring the things we buy are offering real value for money, which is what our local taxpayers would expect.”
