20140731_thumbL_ipf685_3qThe OEM has added six new imagePROGRAF printers to the range.

The six new printers feature “faster print speeds and more intuitive software options”, with four of the printers utilising five-colours in large-format – the 36-inch iPF785 and iPF780, and the 24-inch iPF685 and iPF680 – and two called “large-format imaging systems – the iPF785 MFP M40 and iPF780 MFP M40.

The printers are designed for a “variety of industries” including map printers, technical printers and architectural and building sectors, with the 36-inch printers featuring print speeds of 21 seconds for a 24 inch by 36 inch print, as well as 300 millilitre ink tanks. Additionally, a “sub-ink tank” system allows users to “deplete all of the ink” before replacing a tank, and replace empty tanks “without needing to stop the printer”.

The iPF785 and iPF685 models in turn come with a 320GB internal hard drive, whilst the iPF785 MFP M40 and iPF780 MFP M40 can scan documents up to 315 inches in length as either a PDF or JPEG, and up to 590 inches in length as a TIFF; the two “imaging systems” are named as such due to featuring a “stand-alone computer and multi-touch-screen monitor”.

The printers are compatible with the OEM’s new mobile app, imagePROGRAF Print Utility, which “helps facilitate wireless printing” from iPads, as well as “previewing their PDF file, number of copies, orientation, and quality” before approving a print job. Ink-wise, the five-colour dye/pigment reactive ink system includes a new magenta ink “that helps produce more vivid reds and yellows”.

Junichi Yoshitake, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Canon USA’s Business Imaging Solutions Group, stated: “The new imagePROGRAF models introduce powerful new features that can help save time, cut costs and ensure that print jobs move along seamlessly for outstanding productivity.

“These versatile devices lend themselves to numerous applications, including computer-aided design, architecture, engineering and construction, as well as signs and posters and are excellent companions for industries ranging from manufacturing and government to education.”

The printers are already available at suggested retail prices of $4,995 (€3,723) for the iPF785; $4,495 (€3,350) for the iPF780; $3,195 (€2,381) for the iPF685; $2,495 (€1,859) for the iPF680; $8,995 (€6,705) for the iPF785 MFP M40; and $8,495 (€6,332) for the iPF780 MFP M40.
