OEM signs deal to sponsor next year’s event, which will be held from 18 September to 31 October in England and Wales.

Canon announced that the deal is the first time it has partnered with the event, with the company to serve as an Official Sponsor of the tournament, which will be held at 13 venues in England as well as in Cardiff, Wales.

The rugby union tournament is owned by World Rugby, and has been held every four years since 1987, with teams from 20 different countries taking part and coverage broadcast in 207 territories around the world. In 2019, the tournament will be hosted in Japan, marking the first time it has been held in Asia.

Canon stated that it has provided behind-the-scenes support to members of the press covering numerous sporting competitions both in Japan and overseas, including technical support, advice and repair services, as well as loans of its EOS system camera and lens equipment.

In addition, Canon will provide print and copying solutions used by England Rugby 2015 – the tournament organising committee, in order to support the event by facilitating the printout of materials and the streamlining of document workflows.

As a result of its sponsorship, the OEM will designate various input and output products as office products of the Rugby World Cup 2015, including cameras, lenses, video camcorders, copiers, MFDs, printers, scanners, fax machines and projectors.
