The Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) printers were announced at a European medical conference.
The four printers – the C610DM, C711DM, C831DM and C910DM – are said by the OEM to be “unique” machines as they feature “fully embedded DICOM print servers” and its LED printing technology to offer “high-quality, cost-effective colour or monochrome output without the need for conversion software or external hardware”. DICOM is an international standard for “handling, storing, printing and transmission of medical imaging”, with OKI “the first” to introduce LED-based printing for the sector.
The machines are able to handle A3 and A4 media for “non-diagnostic X-rays, nuclear medicine scans and ultrasounds” with “superior image interpretation and integrity”, as well as providing “standard office printing needs”, making them “ideal for hospitals, clinics and medical training establishments, as well as dentists and veterinary practices”, OKI added.
The printers were demonstrated at the European Society of Radiology Annual Congress (ECR) 2015 in Vienna, which hosts 20,000 medical professionals from over 100 countries, and OKI’s Director of the Medical Solution Department, Partick Rabel, commented that the OEM was “pleased to introduce them at this year’s ECR show and demonstrate the ways in which they can integrate with clinical imaging systems to meet both DICOM and a range of office printing needs”.
Rabel added: “The C610DM, C711DM, C831DM and C910DM from OKI offer many of the same legendary features and functionality as other models from our broad and award-winning portfolio – but with the added benefit of embedded DICOM technology. OKI printing solutions are known for their media flexibility, high quality output, reliability, ease of use, and low total cost of ownership. Our four DICOM colour printers are no exception.”
