Age UK in Dorchester collects cartridges in exchange for cash, raising money to support older people in the community.
Blackmore Vale reported on the charity campaign run by Age UK Dorchester, in England, that collects old inkjet cartridges for Empties Please, a UK-based cartridge collector, in exchange for cash that “goes towards providing services for local older people”.
All of the money raised by the cartridge collections goes towards the charity’s support for the elderly in the town, with people in the area asked to “take them to reception at the charity’s centre” in the town, where they can also “find out how the money raised is used to provide a wide range of services for local older people”. So far, the campaign has raised £566 ($853/€784) for the charity.
Lucy Christian, Head of Resources and Trading for the charity, stated: “So far we have raised £566 by collecting ink cartridges which has gone towards our activities centre, lunch club, foot care and other services for local older people. This year we hope to raise even more money, and with the public’s help, we should achieve this and help even older people.
“We take any make of ink cartridge, so please bring them along, we would be very grateful to receive them – but not toner cartridges or cassettes as we are unable to recycle these.”
