The prize draw, which began in June 2014, is based on the golden ticket competition seen in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and gives Cartridge World East Lancashire business customers the chance to win a prize. Each time a product was ordered from the franchise, the customer was entered into the draw, and the winner could select a prize specific to them or their business.

The latest winner is Bootstrap Enterprise, a Lancashire-based charity that has been “delivering highly effective social inclusion programmes” across the Pennines region for the last 25 years. It has sites in Blackburn, Accrington, Rossendale and Burnley, and helps jobseekers and those in care to improve their chances of getting employed, working alongside “national prime providers” and the “third sector community”.

The charity was awarded £200 ($295/€278) on winning the prize draw, with the money presented to staff at the charity’s Rebound second-hand book store in Blackburn, a training division for those the charity is aiming to help. The store is staffed by volunteers and trainers, and helps train unemployed people to work in retail and customer service, as well as boost their confidence and skillsets.

Cartridge World East Lancashire added that the store is “only able to operate thanks to the generous donations of books” from people in the local area. Darren Turner, the franchise’s Managing Director, commented that Bootstrap were “worthy winners […] who support many parts of the community in various valuable ways”.

A spokeswoman for Bootstrap Enterprises said: “The ‘Golden Ticket’ monthly prize draw is a great idea, and we can’t thank Cartridge World enough for their £200 donation. We use Cartridge World because they provide a great service to all our locations throughout East Lancashire, and winning the ‘Golden Ticket’ prize draw is a fantastic bonus.”

Cartridge World East Lancashire previously announced that Jack Turner’s Plumbers’ Merchants were the first 2015 winners of the ‘Golden Ticket’ draw.
