The two OEMs are partnering in Europe to offer “fully-integrated mobility printing solutions”.

IT News Online reported on the alliance between Panasonic Computer Products Solutions and Brother International Europe – subsidiaries of the two OEMs – which will offer “field-tested” mobile printing solutions to vertical markets. The products include thermal printers and label printers, as well as ‘rugged’ computer devices for use in emergencies and retail.

Panasonic currently offers its Toughbook and Toughpad computer devices to emergency services, the military and mission-critical agencies in Europe. Under the agreement, Brother will also provide its PJ600 full-page thermal mobile printers to emergency services for vehicle use. In turn, Brother’s RJ series of mobile printers, its MW series of A6 and A7 machines, and its TD2000 receipt and label devices will also be available, with all working with the Panasonic computers.

The arrangement, to be presented under the ProServices brand, will allow for the services using the devices to ensure that “high performance, reliability and connectivity” are available when in the field. Panasonic will sell the Brother printers within its existing distribution channels in the European market, and the initial markets will include the emergency services and retail.

Ian Metcalfe, Brother International Europe’s Commercial Director, stated: “The use of mobile technology has gained significant momentum in the public safety, field service and insurance sectors as industry professionals seek products and solutions to help become more productive, lower operating costs, gain a competitive advantage and achieve system-wide efficiencies.

“This relationship with Panasonic helps ensure that mobile computing and print solutions will integrate seamlessly in the field to meet the specific challenges of these rapidly evolving markets.”

Robert Blowers, Assistant General Manager of Panasonic Computer Products Europe, the parent company of the Computer Products Solutions line, added: “Today’s field workforce is becoming increasingly mobile and has greater expectations in terms of mobile technologies.

“Our ongoing relationship with Brother International Europe means we can offer a more diverse mobility solution to our end-users, giving them peace of mind that their Toughbook or Toughpad device and their print solution will be fully compatible and reliable in their field environment.”
