The latest in the OEM’s large format solutions were on display at the 2015 ISA International Sign Expo in Las Vegas.

Canon featured “several of its latest offerings in flexible, large format printing solutions” at the event, including the Océ Arizona 6100 Series flatbed UV printer models, the Océ ColorWave 700 and the Océ ColorWave 900 printers.

The 6100 Series are new “dedicated flatbed systems designed for versatile, higher volume production of large format display graphics printing into rigid substrates”. A large vacuum table with two independent printing zones, each with its own vacuum system, is part of the series. This allows for “simultaneous printing as well as media loading/unloading, all vital to non-stop production”. Digital cutters can also be combined with the new series, to facilitate “automate cutting of rigid substrates and roll media”.

The OEM described the ColorWave 700 as a “cost-wise, space-wise solution for sign and visual communications companies looking to produce a variety of graphic arts applications”. It can print on media up to 32mm thick and therefore be used to produce colour posters, pop-up banners, wallpaper or canvas. Its Océ CrystalPoint technology enables “consistent, waterfast prints with sharp lines, high readability of fine details and smooth, even area fills”.

Meanwhile, the ColorWave 900 “closes the gap between digital inket and traditional offset technology” with its digital workflow which can exceed 6,000 square feet of display graphics per hour. The model has a paper handling system that can run up to six rolls of media and “robust stacking capibilities”. ONYX Thrive workflow software can be linked with the printers for “the most demanding color requirements”.

A further device featured was the imagePROGRAF iPF6450 24-inch large format printer. This model is designed for “professionals in the graphic, fine art, photography, and proofing industries. Its 12-colour LUCIA EX pigment ink set provides an expansive colour spectrum, improved scratch resistance and smoother gradations, while a new multi-sensor improves “colour density detection”.

Also on display at the event was Canon’s AppRoom, designed to show attendees “how they can adopt new high-margin applications and infuse new revenue into their business” through products printed on metal, wood, Plexiglas, vinyl, even musical instruments, and several other materials. Among the other applications included were packaging, labels, signage, table tops and 2.5D textured graphics.

Canon’s Large Format Solutions Vice President, Sal Sheikh, said: “Canon Solutions America’s large format printing solutions on display at this year’s ISA International Sign Expo feature advanced technology and unique capabilities that address the specific needs and challenges of sign and visual communications industry professionals.

“These versatile solutions deliver fast speeds, productivity, and application capability, making it easier than ever to create high-quality and dynamic signage.”
