The Canadian cartridge retailer is also expanding into office products.
The company revealed that it had relaunched its “completely redesigned, mobile-friendly website” at www.islandinkjet.com, with “new content” alongside a new product line of office products and supplies. Island Ink-Jet’s new line of products includes furniture and technology, with over 10,000 new items making up the “vast array” of products available.
The expansion into office products is a “natural fit”, the company states, having previously been “best known for retailing printer consumables and pioneering the retail-based ink cartridge refill service” in Canada. The new site has been created “with the customer experience firmly in mind”, and “delivers a vast amount of content” including customer requests like “the inclusion of store-specific printer cartridge refill prices”. These can be found on the local store information pages.
Another new feature is the ‘Quick Finder’, which tracks users “throughout their shopping experience and simplifies searches”. This is said to make it “easier than ever to find local Island Ink-Jet stores or to find a printer cartridge compatible with your printer”, with the company’s stores “operated by licensed small business owners”.
The licensees “provide product-related support and participate in the revenue stream from online sales in their community”, and Island Ink-Jet stated that “when a business places an order […] they are actually contributing to their local economy” as “through profit sharing” the store receives revenue.
Alex Schulz, President and CEO of Island Ink-Jet, stated: “We feel that the retail market is changing considerably and Island Ink-Jet is poised for significant growth. Online retailers have pressured traditional box store operators due in part to lower operating costs. Our hybrid model can offer the same products delivered faster and while providing much more localised support to the consumer.”
