The toner manufacturer’s Managing Director, Jan Hagemann, will speak about the impact of the REACH legislation on the toner business.
The talk, REACH Revisited: the impact of REACH on the toner industry, will give an overview of the impact of the REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) law on the toner business, highlighting the “mandatory status of REACH” and why the toner industry should “be attentive” to it.
The presentation will also aim to draw attention to the “requirements and obligations that every player in the toner market must fulfil in order to really hold a REACH-compliance status”, which will help create a “fairer, safer and healthier toner business”. The Recycler previously reported in 2013 on the significance of REACH for ink manufacturers, and this discussion will give insight into the effect on toner.
REACH came into effect in Europe in June 2007 in an attempt to “regulat[e] and classify chemicals”, and manufacturers and importers are “responsible for providing safety information” to the EU in terms of the chemical make-up of their products, with ink and toner both included in this particular bracket. A series of deadlines has been imposed up until 2018 for companies manufacturing chemicals of varying quantities.
The acceptance notification date for the call for papers for the June event is this Friday – 9 May 2015 – while the final paper deadline is 23 May 2015. You can read more about the call for papers here, and visit www.therecyclerlive.com for all the latest information about Focus on Europe 2015.
