Two men were arrested for manufacturing fake toner cartridges.
New Indian Express reported on the raid by Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials of a ‘godown’, or warehouse, in Old Madiwala in Bangalore, with fake toner power, cartridges, packing material and “other equipment” seized worth around 1.5 lakh ($2,359/€2,111). The news source stated that the arrests were made “on charges of manufacturing fake toners used in printing cartridges”.
The two men arrested were identified as Doulat Singh and Vinod, and were said to have “taken a house on rent last year and used it as a godown”, where they had been “carrying out the illegal trade”. In turn, the two men were said to have “purchased boxes with the logo of a known computer hardware company”, manufacturing fake toner cartridges and packing them “in the boxes before selling them”.
The Recycler reported on two previous seizures of counterfeit cartridges in India – one in January earlier this year, where 315 cartridges were seized, and one in March, where 530 cartridges were seized.
