The OEM is working in partnership with 3D Systems to enter the market with the ProJet 4500.
Kyocera announced that the ProJet 4500 3D printer was the “next phase” of its “strategic partnership” with 3D Systems, which it partnered with earlier this year. The machine is described as a “professional” 3D printer, and marks Kyocera’s “entrance into the professional 3D print market”.
The machine is said to be the “industry’s only photo-realistic full-colour plastic 3D printer”, with “vibrant full colour” prints produced using “durable plastic materials”. The ProJet 4500 is “particularly suited to R&D, universities and small production requirements”, and has the ability to “create flexible yet strong full colour parts”. In turn, Kyocera commented that it can produce 3D models for “the purposes of concept design or product verification”.
Other benefits of the 3D printer are “fast print capability, minimal waste and the ability to produce multiple designs in one build”. The latter feature helps to reduce costs and time spent printing, as it “reduces the traditional reliance on third-party model makers and suppliers”. With the ability to produce their own parts, users can in turn “benefit from reducing their R&D costs”, and the printer will come with a “comprehensive support package” from Kyocera.
Trevor Maloney, Product Marketing Manager at Kyocera Document Solutions UK, stated: “Following the announcement of our strategic partnership with 3D Systems earlier this year, we’re delighted to have expanded the product range on offer to our partners and end-users. As 3D printing becomes a more affordable technology we’re excited to offer solutions for all use types through one of the most comprehensive 3D portfolios in the UK.”
Michele Marchesan, Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at 3D Systems, added: “We’re delighted that Kyocera Document Solutions UK has chosen the 3D Systems product portfolio as the latest innovative offer for its partners and end-users. Kyocera will provide a unique level of customer service, which when combined with our market-leading products, means that our collaboration creates real synergy and the optimum solution for businesses in the United Kingdom and Ireland considering 3D printing.”
