Fibre Particulate Composite (FPC) is made completely of natural ingredients, and is derived from agricultural by-products such as rice and wheat husks, sugarcane bagasse and coconut residues.
The material was developed by The Taiwan Trade Centre London, and its proprietary natural compatibalisers mean FPC can be used like a plastic “with current moulding methods”, and it can be used on its own or mixed with petrochemical plastic (e.g. polypropylene (PP) or Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) to create bio-hybrid products, combining the benefits of petrochemical plastics and the sustainability of bioplastics.
FPC is described as “a new type of bio-composite material that shows a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions”. The product will be on display as part of the trade centre’s Taiwan Green Products Display Centre at the Eco Technology Show this month, along with a range of eco-products such as solar bricks, electric scooters and wind power converters.
