Quill.com has recycled four million inkjet and toner cartridges in the past four years.
In a press release, the online business and medical store for SMBs stated that it had reached the four million cartridges milestone, with its parent company Staples reporting earlier this year that it is managing to recycle 60 million cartridges per year.
The company stated that it “makes it easy to recycle” by “rewarding customers and providing free shipping”, with customers receiving $2 (€1.78) back in ‘QuillCash’ for each cartridge, though there is a limit of $20 (€17) per month. The cartridges are sent free of charge to Quill with a “pre-paid shipping box” or a downloadable pre-paid mailing label, and the company notes that the recycling plays into its “sustainability vision”.
This includes generating business and “environmental benefits for customers, communities and the company” through “leading the way in sustainable business practices”.
