Free MPS app released

Jul 16, 2015

JetAdvice appThe JetAdvice Free app allows users to “explore” their printer environment in a way they have “never been able to do before”.

The programme, created by Danish MPS technology group EuroForm, features a “powerful” dashboard with a pie chart overview and four graphs displaying the state of the print environment, allowing the user to see “what to focus on in an optimisation process”. The first shows a percentage breakdown of colour versus mono prints for all colour machines, allowing savings “by printing less in colour”, as EuroForm predicts that less than 20 percent of pages need to be printed in colour.

A vendor graph displays the total amount of vendors in the fleet, which is a “crucial key” to effective print management, with a table below the graph showing information about which vendors are most used, with an average printed page number for each of them. Having as few vendors as possible will reduce administration costs, “as well as moving pages from one vendor to another to another can also lower the cost per page”.

The app also includes an age graph, a table showing the number of printed pages for the given year. “Older devices have higher power consumption”, EuroForm explains, as well as expensive service contracts and an increased cost per page, so savings can be made by moving a printload to newer devices, the savings from which can be monitored via the age graph.

The final graphic represents the number of supplies in the fleet, featuring the number of pages printed for each supply. The MPS provider says that by “looking at the supply consumption of your business”, you can see how to reduce quantity in stock and optimise supply usage. For instance, moving pages to devices with high-capacity toner can “save time changing supplies”, as can moving mono pages from colour to mono-only printers.

Another element of the app is a device list, a “cleverly sorted” list of monitored units that have an image, name, supply status, and the date it was last seen by the data collector, for each machine. An expanded view appears when a printer is selected, providing additional metadata such as the device’s GPS position on a map. This last enables “full mobility when you need to locate the devices in your company”.

Kim Niebling, CEO and Founder of EuroForm, said: “I strongly believe that this free tool will help a lot of companies understand the state of their printer environment, and most of them will probably realize that there’s a lot of work that can be done to improve device optimisation and save a lot of money.

“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re thrilled to see these welcoming reactions to the new free addition to our product range. From what I’ve already heard from the early adopters, I’m convinced this will be a game-changer in the MPS industry.”

She added: “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re thrilled to see these welcoming reactions to the new free addition to our product range. We have been working on some new ideas, you can expect to see even more products in the JetAdvice family in the near future.”
